TECHSOFT - Community Involvement

TECHSOFT Serves on Advisory Committees for Pensacola Junior College and ITT Technical Institute in Mobile, AL

For several years, TECHSOFT has participated on the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Information Technology (IT) programs at Pensacola Junior College.

PACs usually meet once a quarter to review what the educational institutions are doing and to advise on its relativity to the needs of the commercial sector. The PJC PAC is currently conducting a curriculum review in support of the college's accreditation.

In 2008, TECHSOFT joined a similar committee at the ITT Technical Institute in Mobile, Alabama.

Annual AFCEA Golf Tournament

TECHSOFT has been a corporate sponsor of the annual Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) golf tournament since 2005.

AFCEA International is a non-profit membership association serving the military, government, industry, and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, IT, intelligence, and global security.

Proceeds from the tournament are used to provide scholarships for local students.

itgulfcoast

TECHSOFT has been a sponsor of the Information Technology Association of the Gulf Coast (itgulfcoast.org) since its inception in 2000.

itgulfcoast is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote development and growth of the IT industry in the Gulf Coast region.

TECHSOFT's corporate sponsorship helps fund itgulfcoast's scholarship program, which is used to award two scholarships each year to Information Technology students attending the University of West Florida and Pensacola Junior College.

TECHSOFT a Sponsor of the Community Pump-a-Pint Blood Drive

Pensacola, Florida – TECHSOFT has joined the Northwest Blood Center and Escambia/Santa Rosa Bar Association to sponsor the Community Pump-A-Pint 2008 Blood Drive.

TECHSOFT built and is hosting a website for the event (www.pumpapint.com). The website provides information about donating blood and challenges by participating companies to stimulate competition in the hopes of increasing donor participation.

Blood donors were able to donate May 12th through May 16th at various locations in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. Bruce McDonald of the McDonald Fleming Moorhead Law Firm is the driving force behind the blood drive.

The Pump-A-Pint drive began in 2005 with only a handful of law firms participating. McDonald's enthusiasm for the worthwhile event stimulated other companies to join in, including TECHSOFT.

During the past three years, the event has grown a remarkable 70 percent. In 2007, Pump-A-Pint received the America's Blood Centers Award for Excellence for Most Creative Blood Drive. This year’s goal of 500 units is almost double the 265 units donated in 2007.

TECHSOFT Supports Favor House of Northwest Florida

In 2008, TECHSOFT sponsored the annual Law Enforcement Recognition Luncheon for Favor House, a certified domestic violence center serving Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in Northwest Florida.

DARE Program

Since 2000, TECHSOFT has been an annual contributer to the local Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. Founded in 1983, D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.
